The library is focused on the area of philately, the collection and study of postage stamps, postmarks, and related materials. Currently the San Diego Philatelic Library has a collection of over 15,000 items, including journals, monographs, magazine, periodicals, abstracts and books. These have been cataloged into a database and organized for use in three areas:

Operated by friendly volunteers, your stamp library consists of approximately 7,000 volumes of books, monographs, catalogs, and periodicals. All fully indexed, it’s easy to quickly locate the publication(s) you need. Use them in the Library or take them home — it’s up to you. Publications are available for beginning, intermediate, and advanced collectors — along with a friendly staff and other collectors to help with your collections. With lots of work space, your Library is a great place to research a topic, work on your collection, trade experiences with other collectors, or trade stamps, supplies, and accessories.
REFERENCE: Philatelic catalogs from throughout the world are available for review. Specialized catalogs; such as the FACIT catalog; a colorful presentation of Scandinavian country stamps.
RESEARCH; Specialized publications can be use to search for post office cancelations, number of stamps printed, issue dates as well as the number of First Day Covers processed. Also the value of a specific stamp can be traced over decades such as the Mint 1933 C18 Small Zeppelin 1936 $.75 1950 – $9, 1965 – $16, 2020 -$45
